Paul Saffo, Future Studies and Forecasting Chair at Singularity University, provides an overview of forecasting, describing it as the act of mapping future uncertainties, which are also opportunities. He also describes the tendency to overestimate the short term and underestimate the long term.

About The Speaker

Paul Saffo is a forecaster with over two decades experience helping corporate and governmental clients understand and respond to the dynamics of large-scale, long-term change. He is Managing Director of Foresight at Discern Analytics, and he teaches at Stanford where he is a Consulting Associate Professor in the Engineering School. A Fellow of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences, Saffo served on the US National Academies Committee on Forecasting Disruptive Technologies. He holds degrees from Harvard College, Cambridge University and Stanford Law School.
